If you don’t have iCloud for Windows on your PC, you can get it via the Microsoft Store or the Apple website. However, only Chrome receives support for both. ICloud for Windows also offers password syncing for Microsoft Edge and bookmarks syncing for Mozilla Firefox. That’s the most convenient method for accessing your browsing data on each platform. If your gear consists of a PC and iPhone or Mac, you can sync your passwords and bookmarks from Safari with Google Chrome and vice-versa by installing iCloud for Windows. Sync Safari Browsing Data via iCloud for Windows Safari for Windows also hasn’t received security updates in almost a decade, so we recommend that you don’t attempt to use it for any sensitive activities such as banking or shopping. Other than for basic web browsing, it was practically useless. Most websites took a long time to load, while web apps (such as YouTube and Google Maps) simply failed or prompted us to switch to a compatible browser. Even if the functionality were present previously, Apple probably would’ve stopped you from signing in to it by now.ĭuring our Safari tests on Windows, the browser started showing its age. That makes it impossible to sync your browsing data from an iPhone or Mac. What the browser does not allow is to sign in with an Apple ID. Double-click the downloaded SafariSetup executable file. Unfortunately, Apple no longer supports Safari for Windows, so you can’t get it from an official source.Ģ. Download the Safari installer from a software download portal such as Uptodown, Filehippo, or TechSpot. But unless you just want to have a feel of how Safari looked almost a decade earlier, we recommend you stay away from it.ġ. Regardless, the steps below will walk you through downloading and installing Safari on your Windows 10/11 PC. You also can’t sync your browsing data, so it’s not a solution if you want to access bookmarks and passwords. The problem? It’s terribly slow and dated, lacks compatibility with most web apps, and poses security risks. However, the final version of the browser (Safari v.5.1.7) is freely available on the internet, so you can quickly download and install it on your Windows 10 or 11 PC. This means that melee combatants in front of ranged combatants would have a very high chance of being hit, which is of course a very different behaviour from that of vanilla. In CE, hit chance is no longer calculated on a probability basis but rather according to a simulated bullet trajectory, where bullets are considered to be at a certain height (that changes according to a simulated ballistic trajectory) above the ground as they fly towards their target, and compare their height to the height of potential targets as they are encountered along the flight path. The only real defence I could recommend is to simply control the colony wealth value until you do have weapons that have a chance against mechanoids. I'd not face against them without some good high-muzzle-energy weaponry. Scythers are of course much less armoured but still are extremely dangerous. I still remember my first encounter with a CE centipede when a hail of bullets from my colonists just noisily bounced off its hull. I've never tried traps against them because I simply assumed they would not work - even plasteel longswords have trouble damaging them. Mechanoids in CE are extremely well-armoured and are able to shrug off most small-arms fire for instance, they are practically immune to pistols. But after CE I just have another headless colonist. Even the MiB could not save this I think.Īny tips on what I might do wrong? Also quick question, does using another human as cover doesn't work anymore? In vanilla I often have my melee colonist right in front of the range one and the help says that there will be no friendly fire. They push through all my traps almost unscatched and in the end all my colonists are downed with only lancer down to 50%. The final blow comes in a lancer and a scyther. But since then I've grown my numbers to 7 and have quite happy colony. But this also almost failed when one other super soldier just rush through 4 of wooden spike traps and able to down 4 colonists as he reaches the end. It's so bad I immediately commissioned a simple killbox that just consists of snake corridor full of traps with an open door to my room with my colonists will rush then in melee combat. I'm only saved because he then escape kidnapping one of my colonist and I still have one other colonist that somehow able to rescue one other colonist. I can down 2 of them quite easily, but one of them is an almost super soldier that take down my other colonists. In the second run I'm almost wiped in a 5v3 engagement. I lost 3v2 engagement with all of us downed in the end. First is from unexpectedly potent stick bombs that is somehow as dangerous as molotovs but carried by tribals. My last two games end unceremoniously in one raid. I think I'm overwhelmed with all of these. I've played several games and I think I'm doing quite well so to ramp up the difficulty and realistic experience, I try to have Combat Extended. r/RimWorldStreams - For all of your videos and streams needs r/RimWorldTales - /u/srgrafo's Rimworld Comic Series r/RimworldSwap - Swap saves with other players r/ShitRimworldSays - /r/nocontext posts about /r/RimWorld r/RimworldArt - Posts about Rimworld Artwork (not fanart!) r/Rimreddit - Colonists playing only on a single planet r/RimWorldPorn - High Quality Images of Rimworld Colonies No discussing pirated versions of the game. The computational results on kink-band formation and stress-strain response show good consistency with our experimental analysis. The next focus of this study is to propose a computational micromechanics model considering local fiber waviness to study the fiber kinking failure mechanism. The results show that the voids in the resin-rich area lead to kink-band splitting, while in some cases the voids cause the kink-band to deflect in a new direction depending on more » the location of the voids. The influence of manufacturing defects and voids on fiber kinking mechanisms is also analyzed. The micrographs reveal that the main failure mechanism in UD laminates is fiber kinking failure. A sequence of failure initiation and propagation is observed based on optical microscopy images of specimens during failure. Here, his study investigates the failure mechanisms of notched unidirectional (UD) carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates subjected to longitudinal compressive loading. Furthermore, we have compared the proposed failure criteria with existing experimental data and computational results available in the literature for different types of composites. Additionally, the newly proposed failure criteria show significant improvement according to our computational and experimental results. Based on the failure mechanisms from computational analyses and the comparisons between predicted failure envelopes and classical failure criteria, a new set of homogenized failure criteria is proposed. We have evaluated the performances of these failure criteria and identified the aspects for further improvement in their accuracies for the UD CFRP composites studied herein. Then, these failure envelopes are compared with the classical failure criteria. In this paper, we address this challenge by first applying a well-established computational micromechanics model based on representative volume element to predict the failure envelopes of unidirectional (UD) CFRP composites. Failure prediction for carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites has been a longstanding challenge. North American automotive engineers apparently recognized that Japanese HOAT coolants were superior in aluminum engines to North American coolants. As a result, European coolants have historically used borates (which are abrasive) in preference to phosphates. In addition, phosphates acquired negative environmental associations, so the European automotive industry developed and promoted phosphate-free coolant technology. European automotive engineers reportedly had some negative experience with phosphates reacting with the tap water in some European locales. European engineers also developed a form of HOAT technology (using benzoic acid as the organic acid) about 15 years ago but they used silicates and borates in the inorganic additive package. In Europe, aluminum blocks have been widely used for decades, which has pushed coolant technology along a path much closer to the Japanese model than the North American one. The abrasiveness of the silicates was not much of an issue given the assumption that water pumps (and perhaps cooling system hoses) would be replaced at regular intervals. According to Wikipedia, one of the reasons GM dropped this engine was radiator clogging caused by coolants ill-suited to aluminum.) North American automotive engineers determined that they could accommodate aluminum engine components by adding silicates to their standard coolant originally developed for cast iron engines. (Buick introduced an aluminum V8 in 1961 but ceased producing it in 1963 and subsequently sold it to Rover. In North America, coolant technology evolved primarily to support cast iron engine technology but it also needed to accommodate some aluminum engine parts including the occasional use of aluminum blocks which first appeared in the early 1960s. Japanese engineers also avoided borates (a form of inorganic additive) because they are abrasive and less effective than phosphates. In this context, silicates were unnecessary and undesirable because of their abrasiveness (which attacks water pump seals). (A HOAT coolant uses a combination of inorganic and organic additives.) They never relied on silicates because their coolant technology was specifically developed for aluminum engines. The Japanese quietly started using a form of HOAT (hybrid organic additive technology) in automotive applications over 15 years ago. In particular, aluminum fares best with a "low pH coolant" with a pH is in the range 7.8-8.3 while cast iron fares best with a coolant pH in the vicinity of 10.5. (For example, the ubiquitous VW/Audi 2.0T engine has a cast iron block.)Īluminum and iron have very different corrosion properties and require different antifreeze formulations for optimal performance. In Europe, aluminum has been dominant for decades but not as dominant as in Japan. In North America, most engines are still made from cast iron, although aluminum is rapidly gaining market share. The engineers who created these technologies studied and cited each other's patents but developed their respective approaches based more on practical experience than on theoretical models.įor the past few decades, nearly all automobile engines manufactured in Japan have been made primarily of aluminum. Coolant technology has independently evolved in Japan, North America, and Europe. What do you think of this article? Did we miss something? Shortages of nickel have fuelled a rally that took prices to $24,435 a tonne last month, the highest since August 2011. Indonesian nickel has a high carbon footprint and there are concerns the government will eventually give in to producers wanting to dump tailings in the sea.Ĭobalt is a byproduct of nickel production in Indonesia. Most new nickel units suitable for EV batteries will in future come from new high pressure acid leach (HPAL) plants in top producer Indonesia. WHAT ESG ISSUES RELATE TO NICKEL?Īnd nickel also has ESG (environmental, social and governance) risks. One reason to cut cobalt content in EV batteries is cost - cobalt metal on the London Metal Exchange is trading at four-year highs around $71,000 a tonne.Īlso, 50% of the world's cobalt reserves are in Democratic Republic of Congo where potential for political instability and disruption is high.Ĭongo currently produces more than 70% of the world's cobalt but some artisanal cobalt production poses reputational risk due to human rights abuses and the use of child labour. The driving range of LFP cars is lower, but they are popular in urban China, which dominates the EV battery supply chain.īMI estimates cathodes can contain between 0-15 kg of cobalt, 0-40 kg of nickel and 30-50 kg of lithium. "We see potential to use LFP for up to 30% of our battery electric vehicle portfolio." "LFP is robust over many charging cycles at lower cost," Volkswagen said. Volkswagen said it likes lithium phosphate (LFP) batteries because they contain no cobalt or nickel and "supply is secure." Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) declined to comment on the ratio it uses but sources say its batteries use 7-1-2 cathodes. LG Energy Solution (373220.KS) is supplying batteries with cathodes containing 90% nickel to Tesla. Many automakers are now looking at 8-1-1. Moves to include more nickel to boost energy density and extend driving range initially saw a shift to 5-3-2 and 6-2-2. Tesla (TSLA.O) batteries typically use nickel-cobalt-aluminium (NCA) but the dominant cathode chemistry in the auto sector is nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM). EV batteries are charged and discharged by the flow of lithium ions between the graphite-containing anode and the cathode.Ĭathodes contain nickel which delivers high energy density, allowing the vehicle to travel further.Ĭobalt ensures cathodes do not easily overheat or catch fire and it helps extend the life of batteries which automakers usually guarantee for eight to 10 years. This splits up the renaming process by renaming the folder at first to a completely different foldername. Git mv foldername tempname & git mv tempname folderName you’re on a Mac and you didn’t configure it to be case sensitive, you’ll experience an error message like this one:įatal: renaming ‘foldername’ failed: Invalid argumentĪnd here is what you can do in order to make it work: If you’re using a case insensitive filesystem, e.g. If you try it with the ‘git mv’ command like in the following line Why is this more interesting? Because simple renaming with a normal mv command(not git mv) won’t get recognized as a filechange from git. Except, and here’s the part where it gets interesting: Renaming foldername to folderName on case insensitive file systems This is a pretty simple usecase and should work almost every time. The -u option at the add command is important here, it’ll update already tracked files/folders. Git commit -m "changed the foldername whaddup" If there’s already a newfolder in your repo and you’d like to overwrite it use –forceĭo not forget: you have to add the changes to the index and commit them after renaming with git mv. How to useĪssuming you’d like to change a folder’s name from oldfolder to newfolder We can see there’s no commit so we have to add the updates and commit the changes afterwards. It performs a file move, adds the new file to the index and removes the old file from it. If you want to move several files to a single path you may specify n sources but the last argument is the destination. git mv takes at least two arguments, a source and a destination. Renaming with git mvįor renaming files or folders use nothing but the git mv command. So it happened to me that I was working on a branch of a project and had to rename a subfolder. As easy as it sounds, it turned out renaming files and folders with git can sometimes be pretty painful. Phase blast, despite having a proc coefficient of 0.5, counts as 8 separate hits and has a cooldown of 3 seconds. Suppressive fire also has a proc coefficient of 1, but counts at 6 separate hits (this also increase with attack speed, but more on that later). His basic attack also counts as 2 separate hits. You should immediately notice the following: All of his skills that do damage, except for the phase blast, have a proc coefficient of 1. All in all, the commando should be treated as a short to medium range survivor for optimal damage output. It is important to familiarize yourself with the distance at which this begins to occur, and to remain within a sufficient proximity to enemies so most of his attacks do maximum damage. This is true for his basic attack, and suppressive fire. Many of the commando's attacks experience damage fall-off (his attacks do reduced damage at a distance. There's a few things to consider in order to understand what the commando is good at, and how to be more consistent with him: I don't know how familiar you are with the game mechanics, or even your playing habits, so I'm going to type this response to be as detailed as possible. Is there just some fundamental part of Commando that I'm missing or not understanding? Because the way things are now it doesn't seem like unlocking his alts is going to be a very fun time. Normally I would just unlock his alts and move on, but 2/3 of them require doing long runs with him (killing an Overloading Worm and going 20+ stages without any lunar items). It just feels like Commando requires you to get lucky with good crowd control items like Ukes and such to even stand a chance. Commando effectively has zero crowd control by default which really sucks in a game that's almost entirely about dealing with crowds of enemies, and that wouldn't even feel that bad if he did good single target damage to take stuff out quickly, but he doesn't. If there's one thing I've learned from this, it's that Laser Glaive has spoiled me big time. The same problem applies to beefier enemies and bosses - either I focus on taking out the small guys but I can't keep up with how fast they're spawning, or I focus on the big guys and before I know it I have a horde of smaller enemies tearing me to bits that I can't hope to prune down in any reasonable amount of time. Normally my solution to a problem like that would just be to not worry about killing everything and run away, but as far as I can tell enemies have near infinite aggro range, so even if I do run away they're just going to catch up to me the next time I stop and I'll have an even bigger horde of enemies to deal with. Normally with Huntress I could take out a group of enemies and have a bit of a breather before more start to spawn, but with Commando I just can't do that. It feels like he takes forever to kill even the most basic enemies, so much so that he just can't keep up with the rate of enemy spawns, even right from the start. Now I'm not saying I was expecting no difference at all, but compared to Huntress.Commando feels insanely weak. Figured I'd go down the list and start with Commando. Alternate between Suppresive Fire and Tactical Dive for maximum survivability.I've been maining Huntress since I started playing, and now I'm at the point where the only challenges I have left are getting the couple of items that require Monsoon (and the stupid hermit crab thing) and unlocking the alt skills/skins for the other survivors. Suppresive Fire is a perfect tool to stun enemies and cancel their attacks.Tactical Dive into upwards slopes for a huge upwards jump.Tactical Dive can be used to avoid falling damage from any height if used before hitting the ground. To maximize long range DPS, Double Tap a bit before using Phase Round to reset the accuracy and Double Tap again. Phase Round resets the accuracy spread of Double Tap.Double Tap has the highest potential to proc item effects out of any Primary skill.Firing from one edge of the teleporter bubble to the other, you lose about half the damage. Double Tap and Suppressive Fire experience damage falloff.(As Commando, clear 20 stages in a single run without picking up any Lunar items.) Unlocked via the " Commando: Incorruptible" Challenge.Deals 4x damage in the center of the explosion. Throw a grenade that explodes for 175% damage. |
